LiveScan is Live!
All coaches and team managers: Sign up for your appointment today!
We've been working through logistics for the past year, and it's finally time for LiveScan!
Per CA state law AB506: LiveScan fingerprinting is required for ALL youth sports coaches, trainers, and team managers (not parent representatives or team STARs).
Coaches and Managers who are not scanned and cleared will not appear on the Game Day Photo Roster nor be eligible to coach or manage beginning the Spring 2023 season. If your team does not have an eligible coach present, the game will be forfeit. Any coach that’s cleared for a team playing in an SFYS league can guest coach for you, they just need to bring a printed Game Day Photo Roster they appear on for that weekend of games to show to the referee during check-in.
Check our FAQs at the bottom, and email any questions to info@sfyouthsoccer.com.
Critical information:
- No walk-ins, no paper registration. You MUST sign up online for an appointment.
- Select SAN FRAN YSA - SAN FRANCISCO YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION under Area/Club or we will not be able to access the results.
- Please pay close attention and review your appointment information for errors and spelling mistakes before you submit! Make sure you’re entering your first and last name in the correct boxes, and that they match the legal ID you are bringing with you. If you make an error entering your information, your results may be delayed and you may need to get scanned again on your own time and dime.
- Make sure you have received an email confirming your appointment (search for “ApplicantServices.com” in the subject line). You will need to provide the Payment ID from that email or the QR code generated for the appointment under “Transaction History” (at the top of the page on their website). TIP: Screenshot or print the QR code or ID before you come in to save time! If you didn’t receive an email or see anything under “Transaction History”, please reload the page and try making the appointment again.
Make Your Appointment Now!
-
It’s a government site, so please pay attention to the FAQs and instructions below, because even though the steps are quick and easy, they are not intuitive. A couple of major hints:
-
- Create an account using the legal name shown on your driver’s license and the email you used to register for SQWAD/US Soccer/RSI - and it really *does* take at least one whole minute for the confirmation email to come through
- Select SAN FRAN YSA - SAN FRANCISCO YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION under Area/Club
- Refer to the instructions below for screenshots - save yourself time and stress, mistakes may delay your results
-
- Click here to search for available appointments. If the event is not hosted by SFYS (it will explicitly say SFYS in the event name) the appointment will cost $25. The charge will show up as "Biometrics4ALL".
Navigating the Appointment Website
- Website translation services are available through Google translate on both the signup page and and at the top left of the screen after you log in
- Also at the top after you log in: you can confirm your appointment and download your QR code under “Transaction History”, and “Reschedule Appointment” will be available up until 4 hours before your appointment time. If you can’t make any of our scheduled events, please email us at info@sfyouthsoccer.com before you look into “Live Scan Locations”.
- Every time you log in, they will ask for your email to send a one-time verification code. The email can take a few minutes to come through, bear with it and refresh.
- Register for an appointment: select SAN FRAN YSA - SAN FRANCISCO YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION
- Enter your information and click “next”. Please pay close attention (they ask for your name Last, then First) and double check everything, if you make an error it may delay your results.
- Scroll down to select one of our LiveScan events. The first option will show you the appointments for both February 3rd and 4th. On the next page, you have to select the date of the event on the calendar to see the available appointment times.
- You have to watch a short video before the site will allow you to submit your appointment. Some of it was created during the pandemic, so please bear with them. You’re not required to provide your own hand sanitizer or tissues, and you can choose to wear a mask at your own discretion.
- You will receive an auto-generated email from the site after you sign up. You can disregard the recommendation to call the technician to confirm the LiveScan operator will be available, we’ll make sure they’re there and send any updates as needed.
FAQs
What is LiveScan, and why is this a requirement for our coaches and team managers? LiveScan is a digital background check process including an in-person appointment for fingerprinting that is required for all volunteers working with youth sports organizations. We’re adding LiveScan to our requirements to stay up to date with CA State Law; as of 2022, LiveScan / fingerprinting was added to their requirements, and we’ve spent the last year coordinating with the national organization we are affiliated with, SAY Soccer.
Do I still need to complete the RSI Self Report? Both are required by law.
If I have completed LiveScan for another organization in the past (including schools & other youth sports organizations, for example SFUSD and SFRPD Winter Futsal), do I have to do it again? Yes, and this will be the case every time you work with an organization under a separate governing body that requires LiveScan. US privacy laws prevent separate organizations from sharing the results of background checks with each other.
How do I get the results validated in SQWAD after my appointment? SFYS staff will update LiveScan clearance in SQWAD on a rolling basis as the results are returned to us. Most will come back to us within the week; but results can take up to a few weeks to be returned to us.

The system didn't "force" me to add my social security number, so I didn't. Should I have added it?
@Hazen, I skipped the "directional" question for my address, and it let me through. I would start a new session and make sure not to click on that box.
I couldn't get past the name and address screen without entering a "direction" for my street (N, S, E, W, etc.) even though it didn't indicate it was required AND my street doesn't have a direction!
