One City. One League. One Price. Three Divisions. #PlaySFYS
Explaining our new league organization
For many years, we've had several ways to play in SFYS (often called different leagues, divisions, brackets or flights). While that concept is not changing for Fall 2025, we're modifying the way our levels are organized within our league, in an effort to make it easier for our families, coaches, players and clubs. Players will continue to have the option of playing at two levels from 2nd - 8th grade, and at one level in high school. Competition levels don't change, only the way we're formatting our league and what we're calling each level!
Here's the breakdown:
-
- SFYS City - Formerly known as our recreational league. Teams remain grade-based. Teams will be designated by grade, such as 8th - Killer Orcas.
- SFYS Premier - Formerly known as Upper House. This is the top flight of each age division, starting in 2nd grade, and will be registered in the appropriate grade division. Your team name might look something like this: "Premier - Killer Orcas G13" - to distinguish your team as a Premier team. When registering for tournaments, you will register in the age group that aligns with your oldest player's age.
- SFYS Varsity - We aren't changing the name for our high school players. The Varsity division remains 8v8 on a half pitch with an expanded roster to accommodate for player interests outside of soccer and busier schedules.
We think this accomplishes our goals to keep players playing, provide multiple levels of play, and help our families understand how their player(s) can stay within SFYS.
